News

It is with great sadness that I inform you that Derek Smith, former PAAS Treasurer and Chairman lost his battle with cancer in the early hours of this morning.  Derek died peacefully with his family around him.  I am shocked and saddened by such sad news because Derek was one of the nice guys in Pike Angling and will be sadly missed.

The committee and members of PAAS would like to offer our sincere condolences to Derek's family and friends at this difficult time.

Golden Ticket Event Draw Details

We will be holding our popular "Golden Ticket" draw on Saturday at The Gathering.  Traditionally, the winner of the Golden Ticket gets a free boat on the PAAS event of his or her choice but this year there is a twist - the winner will not only get the free boat for 2 but will also be the first boat out on the day, with a 5 minute head start on the rest of the anglers fishing.

So, an added incentive this year - tickets will be priced at £5 each and to ensure all members have the chance to take part in the draw, we will be pre-selling tickets via PayPal, for those who cannot attend on the day.  Please send to accounts@esoxscotland.co.uk clearly referencing "Golden Ticket Draw," no later than midnight Friday 25th May.  Payment received after this cut off will not be considered for the draw.

AGM Mega Raffle Prize Alert #10

Today's prize update features a selection of Pike Fishing Books, featuring many of our sports best known participants.  After all, if you can't get out fishing then the next best thing is to read about it!

Many thanks to Gifts4Anglers for supplying these great titles and for their continued support of Esox Scotland magazine.

New Events Manager Announced

The Committee are pleased to welcome James Brady on-board as our new Events Coordinator.  James has hit the ground running and has finalised the Events Calendar for the remainder of the year - please keep an eye on the Events Section for more details.  James will also have some exciting news relating to future events to announce at Saturday's Gathering.

We wish James all the best in his new role!

AGM Mega Raffle Prize Alert #9

I am pleased to announce that we have received several more excellent prizes for The Gathering Mega Raffle, which takes place this Saturday 26th May at the Newhouse Hotel.  Today we are featuring something for the lure addicts:

First up we have a Trout Glider donated by Barry Robinson in a special "one off" pattern for PAAS.  Barry's lures need no introduction as they are very popular with our members (and Scottish Pike), which is no surprise as they really are works of art.

Next up we have 2 classic gliders donated by Carl from Loz Harrop Lures, an 8 inch Fudally's Reef Hawg in Flame Orange and a Riverrun Manta in Baitfish pattern.  Reef Hawg's and Manta's have accounted for stacks of Pike and are a must have for any serious lure anglers box.

Finally for today we have some Lures and Braid donated by The River Piker.  Wake Lures Hanko Gummi are BIG soft baits from Finland and are currently catching big pike all across Europe, while Nano-X line is an American made 4-strand braided fishing line.  Paul has kindly sent us a spool of 65lb breaking strain - perfect for most lure (or deadbait) scenarios.

Thanks once again to all for their very kind donations - remember, the only way to be in with a chance of winning any of our great prizes is by attending The Gathering this Saturday, where tickets will be on sale.
